My name is Melissa Adams, the owner and editor at www.editing.net.au. I have a bachelor’s degree in Arts – Psychology from Macquarie University. Under this degree I also studied philosophy, English, linguistics, statistics and education.

 

After uni, I knew I would suffocate  nodding along, listening to people’s problems, and not being able to give my opinion or really help them. I was too much of a perfectionist and would get too involved. So, having an innate love of books and language, I decided to complete a Diploma of Publishing (Professional Book Editing, Proofreading and Publishing) and get bossy with punctuation and grammar instead.

I worked as a publishing assistant in a small publishing house and began providing freelance editing and proofreading services. Eventually I decided to devote my full attention to my own business and clients.

I believe the foundations of any good business practice are built on integrity, honesty and humility. Something that is also very important to me and to conducting a business is communication. My number one business goal is to make the whole editing process quicker, easier and better for you, the customer.
